Exhibition: From police control to violation of justice |

Sadly many people in Germany live with the reality of being insulted, victimised, kicked and beaten by the police. Not only left-wingers, prostitutes, homeless persons but also immigrants become victims of police violence. They report about systematic assaults which often start with a “suspected independent” controls, continue with racist insaults and end up with kicks and punches. For the victims these assaults often mean complete powerlessness towards police and authorities. This is reinforced by the fact that there is hardly any chance to prosecute the evil-doers. Because of unfair accounts, non-prosecution and non-sanctioning of assaults, the victims have to figure on being sentenced – not the offender.
- Are thugs in uniforms only some few rotten apples and victims of their working conditions? Or are there structural deficiencies amongst the police that allow or even encourage assaults?
- Why does the police have an eye on immigrants and why are they more and more victims of violation of justice? Is racism within the police only a image of the society or are there deeper reasons?
- Why do colleagues, superiors and politicians excuse the thugs? Why don’t the offenders have to be afraid of being sentenced, whereas the victims remain quiet, because they are afraid of a complaint.
